It’s every parent's dream to have their children want to follow in their footsteps, but we're not sure if this is what Deion Sanders had in mind.

The Hall of Famer’s outspoken daughter, Deiondra Sanders has joined the Bikini Basketball League to her father’s disdain. According to the sports association’s website, The Bikini Basketball League is a US based basketball association for beautiful athletic women. The association of six teams will begin to play this summer. Those players were selected based on athleticism, personality, as well as beauty. Deiondra signed up to play for the Atlanta Peaches.

In December 2012, Deiondra posted a photo on Twitter of her preparing for practice wearing a skimpy, black pair of biker short, which is believed to be a close replica of the league’s actual uniform. The caption read: Getting ready for basketball practice #ATLPeaches

Deiondra acknowledged her dad’s initial disapproval of her joining the organization when he imagined his daughter would have to wear a sexy uniform. She told Jeff Sammut of 590 The Fan in Toronto:

“My dad was kind of upset, but that’s like any parent who just sees bikini league. He thought I was going to be out there in a bikini. He [saw] a picture of our uniform and stuff like that, so I think once he saw that we’re actually covered up a little bit, he wasn’t concerned."

In fact, the name for the league is a misnomer as the players are actually outfitted in sports bras and shorts and not bikinis. She hopes this opportunity will put her in position to be a “positive voice”. Deiondra defended the BBL, while drawing a comparison to the Lingerie Foortball League, a similarly scantily clad sports organization.

She said, “I think that it’s a lot different because we actually do have players, real basketball players, that actually have played in the WNBA before. So I think that is will make a difference because people are really going to the see real-life hoopers. They just look good while doing it.”

Deiondra has always been a girl to do what she wants. She made headlines last year by getting into a heated Twitter spat with step-mom, Pilar Sanders.
