Princess Diana's former butler, Paul Burrell, has claimed that Meghan Markle is looking into entering politics.

"I've always said Meghan has her eye on a bigger gain; this isn't the bigger gain. I've always said she has had her eye on politics," Burrell recently said, according to the New York Post.

"She is trying everything she can to make as much money as she can to support their lifestyle. Again, they are going against the royal family's wishes. Queen Elizabeth specifically said, 'Do not use your royal titles for commercial gain' and that is exactly what they are doing."

"They are making up their own rules as they go along. As long as they can make money they will try everything," he continued.

Burrell's statement adds to previous rumors that the Duchess of Sussex could be eyeing a political career.

Since quitting royal life in 2020, Markle, alongside Prince Harry, founded a media company, Archewell Inc./Archwell Productions and ventured into podcasting and creating shows for Netflix.

Just last month, Markle launched her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.

"Her ultimate objective today is to build an empire, change public perception through related Netflix content, and build a lifestyle brand through retail and content creation," said "To Di For Daily" podcast host Kinsey Schofield.

"But some might see it as Meghan just reverting back to influencer. This is a space that she feels confident in, so she could make it work, but compared to the hype that surrounded her upon exiting the royal family ... this feels like settling for something very ... shallow."

Schofield added, "Had Meghan had patience and more respect for the royal institution, 2024 would have been the year that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle saved the day, saved the monarchy."

Late last year, the thought of Meghan entering politics was a hot topic in news media when it was rumored that she was considering making a play for Sen. Dianne Feinstein's seat in the U.S. Senate.

However, royal biographer Angela Levin claimed that "Meghan Markle could never be a politician," according to Sky News.

"She's got very thin skin. It's just so ludicrous to think that she could go in at a high level...I don't think there's a chance in hell that she'd ever get into parliament," Levin told the news outlet at the time.
