Mike Tyson Fight Against Jake Paul Sanctioned As Pro Fight, Results Will Be Officially Added To Their Records
New regulations have been established for the upcoming boxing match featuring Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.
The new specifications include two-minute rounds and the utilization of 14-ounce gloves. The event is a sanctioned heavyweight bout slated for eight rounds.
In light of its official sanctioning, the results of the match will be officially recorded on the fighters' respective records. Tyson, 57, boasts a record of 50 wins and 6 losses, with an impressive 44 knockouts. Paul's record stands at 9 wins and 1 loss, with 6 knockouts.

The regulations were put forth by the promoter, Holden Boxing LLC, as per the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the governing body for combat sports in the state. Set to take place on July 20, the bout is scheduled to be hosted at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
"The camps for both fighters agreed on the promoter's proposed terms for the bout and the terms were submitted to TDLR for approval," Tela Mange, who serves as the Communications Manager for the TDLR, told USA TODAY Sports via email. "You would need to ask the promoter about the reasoning for the shorter rounds."
In conventional boxing matches, fighters typically engage in three-minute rounds while donning 10-ounce gloves, a configuration that allowed Tyson to deliver devastating knockouts throughout his professional career.
The decision to adopt two-minute rounds is anticipated to benefit Tyson, given potential concerns regarding the boxer's age. He will be 58 at the time of the fight. Conversely, the use of 14-ounce gloves may favor the Cleveland, Ohio, native as the heavier gloves could mitigate the impact of Tyson's punches.
Azim Spicer, Tyson's brother-in-law and a participant in business dealings with the boxer, commented on the rules, characterizing them as a compromise that Tyson is reportedly content with.
The rules governing the bout were initially disclosed in a press release issued by MVP, co-founded by Paul, and Holden Boxing. Subsequently, the TDLR confirmed these rules to USA TODAY Sports.

Speculation regarding whether the confrontation between the heavyweight champion and Paul, 27, would be classified as an exhibition or a professional bout has persisted since the fight's announcement on March 7.
