Meghan Markle 'Knows She'll Get Booed' In UK, So She Snubs Invictus Anniversary, Royal Expert Claims
Meghan Markle will not visit the United Kingdom because she knows she will receive a bad reception, according to a royal expert.
Prince Harry confirmed that he will fly to the U.K. next week for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. However, his wife will not join him for the special church service at St. Paul's Cathedral.
Charlotte Griffiths, royal editor for the Mail on Sunday, recently appeared on GB News and weighed in on the Duchess of Sussex's decision. According to her, it was "so sad," but she probably decided to skip the event because she knew she would not be welcomed in Britain.

Griffiths told presenter Patrick Christys that the former actress "knows she'll get booed and get a bad reception" if she were to return to the U.K.
"If she was to come to the UK, it would be really difficult. It would bring up terrible memories of the past for her and awkward moments when she was in various churches and things," Griffiths said.
"But she's a strong and tough woman, we know that about her, and she's always telling us how brave she is. So if I were her, I would I'd be brave and walk up those steps. It would look great for her Netflix show anyway."
In June 2022, Prince Harry and Markle attended the Thanksgiving Service at St. Paul's Cathedral for Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations. It was their first joint public appearance after they quit as working royals, but their return was met with a mixture of boos and cheers.

Griffiths claimed that Prince Harry, who was evicted from Frogmore Cottage last year, would stay in a hotel. She believes he would only be in the U.K. for a couple of days, not a week.
"I just don't think Meghan will let him out of her sight for that long. I think a couple of days is all he'll manage," Griffiths said. "She will be in Montecito, prepping her outfits and getting ready for the show-stopping tour, but she didn't join him for the bit that really mattered."
Even if Markle skipped the U.K. visit, she would join her husband on his trip to Nigeria. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex accepted an invitation to visit Nigeria in May on behalf of its Chief of Defense Staff, the highest-ranking military official, People reported. Prince Harry and Markle's trip to the African country will serve as Nigeria's debut event since it is among the new countries to participate in the Invictus Games alongside Colombia and Israel.
