How Long Will The 'Big Brother' Houseguests Keep Vanessa In The Game?

After Austin won the Head of Household competition, he has been a bundle of nerves, constantly changing his mind and going through options for who to nominate. While the prevailing plan was to nominate Vanessa (either initially or at the Veto ceremony), it seems that the plan may have changed.

Austin conspired with his closest ally, Liz, and they agreed his should put up John and Steve in order to cause less waves with Vanessa. They still talked about backdooring Vanessa, but it's clear they didn't seem confident in the idea.

When Steve spoke with them, he firmly requested that he not be nominated next to John. They had a long discussion about what Austin should do, and while Steve agreed to be one nomination, he asserted that it must not be with John.

After Steve left, Austin and Liz talked about putting up Vanessa outright alongside John. They didn't like that Steve wasn't willing to "play ball" but they came to an agreement that they needed to put up Vanessa.

So they called up Vanessa to the HOH room to prepare her ahead of time. When Vanessa got Austin alone, he interrogated her about if she knew about the Week 5 plan for James to throw the Battle of the Block in order to get Austin backdoored. She admitted that she did, and they had a reasonable discussion where she pleaded her case to stay off the block.

The Nomination ceremony was held, and it became clear that Austin nominated John and Steve.

When Austin and Steve got together to talk after the ceremony, Steve said that Austin must have been persuaded by Vanessa. Austin admitted he would love to save Vanessa one more week, suggesting that John is his real target.

The Veto competition will be played today, Saturday, with the Veto ceremony taking place on Monday.
