James Bond is known for his cool, innovative gadgets that help get him out of jams, but he's also had his fair share of lame ones over the years.

In honor of the release of Spectre, the 24th Bond film, we're taking a look back at some of the lamest gadgets the iconic spy has utilized through the first 23 films. After all, with 23 films and many precarious situations, they can't all be winners.

While many of these not-so-great gadgets are at least outside the box and creative, they are also so situational and arguably uncool that it's tough to look back on them fondly.

Here's our list of the five worst gadgets in Bond film history:

Brush communicator in Live and Let Die

Q gives James Bond a brush communicator that may look like an ordinary clothing brush but is actually a morse code transmitter. While it seems innovative in theory, the execution looks and feels a bit too goofy.

Radioactive lint in On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Bond never used the radioactive lint issued by Q, which is actually a stealth tracking device. While the lint can be placed on the enemy's clothing, it is also very easily brushed off. Plus, let's face it, it's lint. How cool can it be?

Revolving sofa in The Living Daylights

The revolving sofa essentially swallows up whomever is unlucky enough to sit on it. It's good for gobbling up the enemy, but how often is a situation like this going to come up?

Crocodile suit in Octopussy

Bond spies on his enemies by hiding in a crocodile suit - a suit that doesn't exactly seem convincing. Plus, the crocodile's mouth has to be completely opened in order for him to properly see what's happening, which would presumably blow his cover.

Fake third nipple in The Man With The Golden Gun

So maybe a third nipple isn't really a "gadget" per se, but it's certainly a hilariously silly sight gag that somehow ends up working. Bond pastes a third nipple on himself to pose as Scaramanga, the villain, and it is apparently well known that this villain has a third nipple. Bond goes shirtless with the third nipple to get the attention of a Thai entrepreneur, and the whole convoluted plan works.

Will Spectre include any silly gadgets? See for yourself as Spectre is now out in wide release.
