A basketball coach at Cal State Fullerton, Monica Quan, 28 and her fiance Keith Lawrence, 27, were found dead on Monday in a car at their condominium complex in Southern California.

Quan, who was a Fullerton's assistant women's basketball coach, and Lawrence, were found shot to death in the front passenger seat and driver seat respectively without signs of attempt of robery.

"It doesn't appear they were robbed," Irvine Police Lt. Julia Engen told the Orange County Register. "There's no obvious motive."

No arrests have been made in connection to the murder.

Quan and Lawrence were both basketball stars and engaged. People close to the couple reportedly remembered them as stars off the court as much as on, according to the Orange County Register.

Police were responding to a report of a man slumped over in a car. Officers said they found Lawrence's car at a parking structure for the condominium complex and they appeared to have been shot.

According to the Register, police said it was obvious they had been dead for some time and it didn't seem like they had been robbed.

Many people close to the couple poured their condolences including the President of Cal State Fullerton Mildred Garcia who said in a statement today:

"The loss of any member of the Titan family causes our community great grief, but the loss of one of our own under these circumstances is indeed tragic and heart-wrenching. We hope that Monica's family and friends will feel and be comforted by our support during this difficult time."

Details Emerge

Quan entered her second season at Cal State Fullerton as an assistant coach in 2012-13. According to the team's website, she helped guide the Titans to an 11-19 overall record last season, a two game improvement from a year ago. Under her leadership, Fullerton also reached the Big West Tournament for an 11th consecutive season.

Prior to working for CSUF Quan served as a lead assistant for Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks reaching the highest total of wins for Cal Lutheran since 2005-06.

Quan's playing career began at Big West Conference rival Long Beach State, where she spent two seasons with the 49ers from 2003-05 before transferring to Concordia University in Irvine, CA. There, she reportedly stepped up her career with a strong senior season, averaging 6.1 points and 1.6 rebounds per game while finishing second on the team with 77 assists.

Quan graduated from Concordia in 2007 with a degree in exercise and sport science and completed her master's in 2009.

She met Lawrence in March 2007 on Facebook. They reportedly moved recently into the condominium complex, according to Fox News.

The reason behind the killings remains unknown and police has not made any arrests yet.
