Claire (Caitriona Balfe) never thought motherhood was in the cards, but tumbling two centuries into the past gave the unintentional time traveler a second chance. The Sassenach announced her pregnancy as season 1 came to an end, and Balfe's character is certainly glowing in new photos from Paris (see image here)

Unfortunately for Claire, she will have to shoulder the burden of her pregnancy largely on her own. Although Sam Heughan (Jamie) has promised that the coming of their child will help carry them through recent hardships, the fallout from the Black Jack (Tobias Mezies) incident won't leave him in the most helpful emotional state.

Claire is dealing with her pregnancy and [wondering], how do you support someone going through a trauma like [Jamie's]?" Balfe told to Blastr. "In a way she sacrificed herself a little bit because she's dealing with her pregnancy on her own in a way."
