Planes Collide on Tarmac in New York's JFK Airport; No Injuries Reported [VIDEO]
Two planes have collided on the tarmac of JFK airport in New York today. The incident occurred while the two planes were taxiing. Air India Flight 102 reportedly landed at 6:19 a.m. this morning and taxied to the gate before colliding with Jet Blue Flight 145 near Terminal 4.
The Jet Blue plane was parked at the gate and preparing for departure when the rudder was hit by the left wingtip of the Air India plane. The Jet Blue Flight was headed to West Balm Beach, Fla.
Dozens of passengers had to disembark the plane but luckily no one was injured.
"There was a noise. You could feel the vibration but I didn't know what happened," an Air India passenger said, according to New York Post.
A spokesman for the Jet Blue plane, which was an Airbus A320 carrying around 150 passengers, said it "sustained damage to its rudder and taxied back to the gate." Passengers subsequently boarded onto another flight headed for their destination.
The Federal Aviation Administration is currently investigating the incident. The FAA said the planes were not under air traffic control at the time of the collision.
