'50 Shades of Grey' Movie Casting: Alexis Bledel Candidacy For Anastasia Steele Compromised?
The film adaptation of E.L. James' saucy novel Fifty Shades of Grey continues to ignite chatter over who will ultimately land the role of the shy college graduate Anastasia Steele. One actress who seems to periodically come up as a candidate on a regular basis is former Gilmore Girls standout Alexis Bledel.
While the 31-year-old beauty still remains a strong potential suitor for the provocative part, her availability was recently compromised, as Bledel recently signed on to star in a new Fox TV series titled Friends and Family.
Since the TV star is in her thirties, many feel she may be too old for the part. However, many websites have continued to overlook her age.
In July, FanShare described the star as having "seductive blue eyes and a stance that binds awkward charm and sex appeal."
"She looks like she can blush and chew her bottom lip with the best of them at the sight of sexy Christian, so we don't care that she's actually 30 years old (if you can believe it). She's our girl!"
Movie Pilot stated last year that Bledel is "spot on" in terms of Anastasia, who also has big blue eyes.
"Not only is Bledel cute as pie, but she has Ana's sweet and innocent look down pat," the movie site said.
The Fifty Shades of Grey premise revolves around Steele, who gets herself involved in a dominant and submissive sexual relationship with the S&M-crazed billionaire Christian Grey. Through a mutual "agreement," the two delve into the world of bondage and masochism.
Screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who is in the midst of penning the movie script, recently stated that the flick would be staying true to the book with lots of sex and raunchiness, as the producers are shooting for an NC-17 rating, according to a write-up in Style Magazine.
Although the producers have yet to attach a director to the franchise, the film is now slated for its big screen release in the summer of 2014.
