Celebrities turned to Twitter to cheer for New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin after he scored 38 points against the L.A. Lakers Friday night, leading his team to a victory at Madison Square Garden.

The final score was 92-85. Lin's points total was the most for a Knicks player this season.

A week ago the 23-year-old star was on the bench. The Wall Street Journal called him the "new basketball hero" and has inspired "LINsanity,"across the Web.

On Friday night, Twitter was stormed with "#LINsanity" tags and celebrities like Spike Lee who attended the game, seemed in awe of him.

MSG Network, the long time producer of radio and television broadcasts of the Knicks says its ratings jumped 36 percent above the season average for the last two games since Lin became an NBA starter.
