Hip-hop producer Abrahan Orellana, known as AraabMUZIK, was shot Wednesday night and is currently being hospitalized.

Orellana's publicist said in a statement late Thursday that he is "currently alive and well." The rep said Orellana was shot for being "in the wrong place at the wrong time" while hanging out with friends. The statement also said that Orellana was in his neighborhood when he was shot, though a city was not specified. Orellana's hometown is Providence, R.I., according to his official website.

"Araab is looking forward to a speedy recovery and returning to the stage as soon as he can," the statement added.

Billboard reported that the producer was shot in an attempted robbery, citing several tweets from the musician's collaborators. Rapper Avatar Darko, who has worked with AraabMUZIK on tracks such as Vampire, wrote. "My lil brodi too trill! They tried to rob him and he ain't come up off his s--t so they tried get him outta there! He meant to be here!"

The producer's manager, George Moore, posted on Twitter a picture of Orellana in a hospital bed Thursday with the caption: "Everyone wish my brother (at)araabmuzik a healthy & pleasant recovery!!!!"

AraabMUZIK's most recent tweet was posted shortly after midnight on Thursday. He announced that he would be at Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, which kicks off June 21. He has worked with Cam'Ron, Duke Da God, Hell Rell, Young Jeezy, Ludacris, Cassidy, Gucci Man, Young Dro, Fabolous and others. His mother was a professional singer.
