Hot off of the latest season of Euphoria, and not far from the afterglow of the massive success that was Spider-man: No Way Home, superstar and Gen Z icon Zendaya is not slowing down anytime soon. The actress just closed a deal to be part of a new film titled Challengers, to be produced by none other than Spider-man producer Amy Pascal.

Set to be directed by Luca Guadagnino, best known for his film Call Me By Your Name, Challengers is said to be about a former tennis star - played by Zendaya - who becomes a trainer and turns her husband into a pro player too. But after a losing streak, he must enter something called a Challenger tournament - the lowest tournament at the pro level - and face off against his own former best friend, who also happens to be his wife's ex boyfriend.

Mike Faist, known for his role as Connor Murphy in the popular Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen, will play the husband, and Josh O'Connor, who plays Prince Charles on The Crown, is his formidable opponent. Both of those actors are still in contract negotiation right now - only Zendaya's casting is a done deal.

That said, they're likely moving towards wrapping up these negotiations; production for Challengers is scheduled to begin in the spring of this year, somewhere on the East Coast.
