If you're still stuck for plans this Valentine's Day, don't feel bad - you're certainly not alone. And with this romantic holiday happening on a Monday this year (and hot on the heels of a fresh coat of snow, for many on the East Coast) staying in and curling up with a good movie and a nice dinner might be just the ticket.

Of course, on a special day like this one, sometimes the same old tried-and-true romances and rom-coms just won't do it. If that's the case for you, check out any of these eight new romcoms that came out last year (or early this year!) We bet you'll be able to find something you and your romantic partner will both love.

A Journal For Jordan

Starring mega-hunk Michael B. Jordan, A Journal For Jordan is a beautiful and sentimental love story told from a distance halfway around the world, a great choice for couples who like sweet tearjerker movies.

Deployed to Iraq shortly after the birth of his son Jordan, First Sgt. Charles Monroe King decides to keep a journal full of advice - and love - for the boy as he grows up. Interwoven into this tale is also the story of his wife, Dana Canedy, a New York Times senior editor, as she looks back on how she fell in love with King - and his whole family - in the first place.

I Want You Back

Starring It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia's Charlie Day and incomparable comedian and actress Jenny Slate, I want you back is a fun and unconventional rom-com that just landed on Amazon Prime Video.

When friends Peter and Emma both get dumped by partners who quickly end up with someone else, the pair are having trouble adjusting - so they decide to hatch harebrained scheme to win back their exes - but, of course, none of it goes as planned.

We Broke Up

Starring William Jackson Harper of The Good Place, We Broke Up is a great pick for anyone who grew up on fanfiction tropes.

When Lori and Doug break up right before a big family event, they have to pretend they're still together to keep things from getting awkward - which, of course, makes it all the more awkward for them.

The Map of Tiny Perfect Things

Imagine if Groundhog Day was also a teen rom-com: That's basically what The Map of Tiny Perfect Things is. Mark is living the same day over and over again, and has perefected several routines to help other people in the process - even developing a crush on one girl he gives directions to. But when he tries to make more things happen between him and this girl, he finds out that he's not alone: Another girl, Margret, has been reliving the same loop as him.

The pair become friends, and try to figure out ways to get out of the loop - discovering more about themselves and their lives in the proess.

Marry Me

If you and your partner are looking for a classic dinner-and-a-movie date for Valentine's Day, then Marry Me is perfect - it just released in theaters, and so far the reviews have said that it's exactly what you expect from one of these date night movies.

When famous singer Kat Valdez (Jennifer Lopez) learns the fiance that she was about to marry live onstage is cheating on her, she makes the impulsive decision to say yes to a random guy in the audience holding a sign that says "Marry Me." That man is Charlie Gilbert (Owen Wilson) - but she never actually expected to fall in love with him.

The Royal Treatment

If you and your special someone like Hallmark movies, hold on to your hats - or your hearts, it is Valentine's Day - and put on The Royal Treatment on Netflix.

When a charming prince meets Izzy, the New York hairdresser who is hired to work at his own wedding, sparks fly, and the two have to make some big decision about love and duty before the time to give the wedding vows finally arrives. A simple enough plot - but so full of romantic-sigh-inducing potential.

West Side Story

If you and your partner are musical theatre buffs, or have an appreciation for the classics, we reccommend giving Oscar-nominated picture West Side Story a shot for your Valentine's Day viewing.

It's a 1950's New York retelling of Shakespeare's classic Romeo & Juliet, with music by the incomparable Leonard Bernstein and a brand new cinematic experience of the show crafted by Steven Spielberg himself, it's a beautiful film to cuddle up with - and maybe sing along to!

Happily

If you would rather romance take a backseat and want to have absolutely no idea what's going on when you watch a movie - kind of the opposite of the one above, really - then we highly reccommend Happily, starring Community's Joel McHale.

In this unpredictable Thriller/Comedy, married couple Tom and Janet begin to feel resentful of their friends, who start complaining about the fact that they are still incredibly publicly affectionate, even after 14 years together. Somehow, this leads to a visit from a mysterious stranger and the discovery of a dead body - and a whole lot of tension, confusion, and laughs.
