Puss in Boots is heading back to the big screen!

The widespread obsession with Shrek is non-negotiable. People go crazy over the green ogre and everything to do with his universe. For that reason, fans will be very excited to hear that this universe is continuing to expand. DreamWorks animation has announced that a new Puss in Boots film, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, featuring the ever iconic fairy-tale based cat, is getting a brand new movie.

This upcoming film will chronicle the story of Puss in Boots as he realizes he has used up eight of his nine lives. Through the course of the film, he will fight to get these lives back, by traveling into the Black Forrest on an epic quest in search of the Wishing Star.

The cat of the hour plans to use this star to wish for his lives back. To make this journey even more interesting, the ferocious feline must ask for the assistance of his nemesis, Kitty Soft Paws. These two, alongside a dog named Perro, will make their way through the Forrest, fighting all obstacles in their way.

Puss in Boots will once again be voiced by the award winning actor Antonio Banderas. Other members of this rockstar cast includes Salma Hayek, Olivia Colman, Harvey Guillen, Samson Kayo, Wagner Moura, Anthony Mendez, John Mulaney, Florence Pugh, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, and Ray Winston. With this powerhouse cast, we are sure this is going to be an absolutely amazing extension of the Shrek universe.
