Melinda French Gates candidly revealed the lowest moment in her life as she continues her journey without Bill Gates.

After opening up about the real reason why they divorced, Melinda shared anew about her life as she shared powerful messages to all women around the globe.

USA Today named Melinda as Women of the Year on Monday, recognizing her efforts in the past months that helped her make a significant impact. While she dedicated her win to all women and families across the world, she also took her time to share some of the personal struggles she faced in her life, including his divorce from Bill.

According to the 57-year-old billionaire philanthropist, people - including her - have the lowest moments in their lives.

"I would say probably, though, for sure, my lowest moment in life was when I finally reached the decision that I knew I needed to leave my marriage. That wasn't something I ever thought would happen to me. It certainly wasn't what I thought on the day I got married, but I realized for myself, I needed to make a healthier choice," she went on.

Melinda then tagged it as a "very, very sad day."

Although she has been facing tough times, she shared that relying on people she can be "authentic with" help her to survive such difficult times. Instead of lurking in the time where she broke her heart the most, Melinda chose to be with the people who have been on her saddest and most joyful days.
