The popular debate trending on Twitter today is over which was better: OG Cartoon Network, or OG Nickelodeon?

4/20 is a most appropriate day to be having a debate over childhood favorite cartoon channels, and the two big ones in the late 80s through the early 2000s - when much of today's young adult population was children - were Cartoon Network, formerly Hana Barbara, and Nickelodeon.

So far, it looks like the CN kids are winning, as the topic name is trending much higher on Twitter than the Nickelodeon.

Fans of this channel seem to most fondly remember shows like Teen Titans, Ed, Edd and Eddy, Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo, Samaurai Jack, and Powerpuff Girls.

But Nickelodeon kids fought back hard, displaying the same passion for their favs as their counterparts:

Nick kids cited shows like Rugrats, Ren and Stimpy, Double Dare, Hey Arnold, Keenan and Kel, and Rocket Power as some of their favorites.

But many pointed out that some of the shows being mentioned weren't really "OG" shows: They're now considered classics, but some of the older adults in these threads remembered the days when Nickelodeon was mostly a network of live-action kids shows like You Can't Do That on Television, Welcome, Freshmen, and What Would You Do?

Some people in this debate were more than willing to choose a side, but others seem to simply be taking this opportunity to appreciate all their favorite childhood cartoons - plus, as some have pointed out, these networks didn't just have their own stuff, but also shows from associated networks, like Adult Swim, Nick Gas, Boomerang, and Nick at Nite.

And then there are those who point out that in those days, there was a third network to contend with: Disney Channel, and their early Disney XD predecessor, Jetix, which had shows like Yugioh and Pokemon.

And that final tweet hits the nail on the head: At the end of the day, we were all really lucky to grow up with the vibrant, fun cartoons we had - and no matter who "wins" this debate, it's always awesome to celebrate your favorite parts of childhood.
