Dentist Joseph Clarence Cox has been sentenced to 180 years in prison for sexually abusing former staff and patients at his dentist office.

Circuit Court Judge George Day slapped the disgraced dentist with the whopping prison sentence following an investigation via the Gadsen Police Department, revealing shocking instances of horrifying sexual conduct at the workplace. It was April 2021 when Cox, 44, was first arrested after police searched his home and office.

During trial, eight former employees and three patients testified against him, counting numerous instances of sexual abuse, sodomy, rape, and sexual contact with patients during procedures.

Two employees said that the incidences were more than touching, expressing cases of forcible rape and sodomy, while former patients claim he subjected them to sexual contact during business hours.

After a week of deliberation, a jury found Cox guilty of two counts of rape, two counts of sodomy, and eight counts of sexual abuse in January, per ABC News.

During sentencing, Judge Day expressed the shocking nature of his crimes, telling Cox that he used his workplace as his own personal playground, showing no respect for any woman who came into his office.

Cox was given 25-year sentences for each count of rape in the first degree and sodomy in the first degree. Day also ordered that the sentences run consecutively with one another.

He was also ordered to serve 10 years in state penitentary for each charge of sexual abuse in the first degree. In total, Cox has been ordered to serve a 180 years behind bars.

Cox's wife of over 10 years filed for divorce in 2021, citing his "adulterous and criminal conduct" to the breakdown of the marriage, per CBS 42.
