Kendall Jenner's "never-worn" archival gown for the 2024 Met Gala might have been worn by Winona Ryder before.

In an interview with Vogue during the event, the 28-year-old model told La La Anthony about her Met Gala 2024 outfit -- an archival Alexander McQueen fall 1999 dress for Givenchy haute couture.

"This is Givenchy. It's archival McQueen from 1999. I am so so so incredibly honored to wear it. I'm the first human to wear it," she said.

However, photos of Winona Ryder by Warwick Saint for Flaunt Magazine in 1999 surfaced online. In one snap, she appears to be wearing a dress that has an uncanny resemblance to Kendall's archival dress at the gala.

As seen in the photo, the "Edward Scissorhands" star's dress is also made of tulle featuring a sculptural neckline and shoulders, cut-out waist, and bead and sequin embellishments.

Because of this, netizens started to doubt Kendall's statement that she was the first to wear the McQueen dress.

"What a scam, turns out Kendall Jenner is not the first person to wear this Givenchy by McQueen gown! Winona Ryder in Flaunt Magazine, 1999, wearing the same dress," tweeted a Parisian stylist on X.

"Winona is not a person. [She] is a goddess, that's why," quipped someone else.

"The detailing in these looks different plus why is the gap in the ring that wide in Winona's version? It looks like hers [was] a replica," speculated a different netizen.

But looking into Givenchy's previous press release about the dress, they said that it's "never worn or presented on the runway before."

"The dress has been preserved in the archives since fall-winter 1999. It has never been worn or presented on the runway before, and it will go back to the Givenchy Archives after the Met," the press release stated.

Meanwhile, Vogue reported that "the collection was presented on mannequins and never shown on the runway."

This could mean that the dress may not have been worn on the runway but worn elsewhere.

A Kendall fan account also clarified their previous posts and wrote, "Kendall Jenner apologizes for the misinformation. We took information from Givenchy and Kendall; we did not fact-check. Winona Ryder was the first to wear it for editorial. Kendall Jenner was the first to wear it out in public. Major honors for these women."

Enstarz could not independently confirm whether the dresses worn by the two stars are the same or if one is a replica of the other.
