Prince William is unlikely to change his mind about his younger brother, Prince Harry, after the latter targeted his wife, Kate Middleton, according to a royal expert.

The Prince of Wales and Duke of Sussex are not on speaking terms, but the latter has been open about his interest in reconciling with the former. However, Michael Cole, a former BBC journalist and royal correspondent, doesn't think the future king will "soften" after all the insults that Prince Harry hurled at the royal family, especially his wife. Cole is convinced that Prince William is "adamant" about not welcoming Prince Harry back into the royal fold.

"There's going to be no softening of the adamantine response to what he's done," Cole said on GB News. "He's done the unthinkable. In this life, most men can put up with insults, it happens. You get insulted. I've been insulted by experts over the years and men can put up with that. What they cannot put up with are two things which they cannot abide with. Their driving ability, and they certainly cannot allow their wife to be criticised."

Cole pointed out how Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, "made no secret of their disdain" for Middleton. When the Princess of Wales revealed her cancer diagnosis, the Sussexes released a statement, which the royal expert described as "sort of a mealy-mouthed thing."

After Middleton announced that she was diagnosed with cancer following her abdominal surgery in January, her brother- and sister-in-law reportedly reached out to her privately. They also released a statement saying they wished for her "health and healing."

"We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace," the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said in a statement to People.

Prince Harry and Markle have spoken at length about the royal family, including Prince William and Middleton, in their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, the Netflix docuseries "Harry & Meghan" in 2022 and his memoir "Spare" in 2023. In his book, Prince Harry even claimed Middleton "grimaced" when his wife borrowed her lip gloss. He also alleged that Middleton had issues with Markle's wedding preparations and even shared their text exchange, which reportedly left the former "Suits" actress "sobbing on the floor."

Cole shared the same statement last month. He said the Sussexes' disrespect toward Middleton was a major factor why the heir apparent could not forgive them.

"There is too much bad blood. William is not going to forgive that, principally because he, of course, and his wife attacked personally, his wife, Kate," he said.
