'50 Shades of Grey' Movie Cast: '30 Rock' Star Wants To Play Bombshell Kate Kavanagh
30 Rock star Katrina Bowden may have stripped down to nothing but lingerie for Maxim, but she isn't ready to be that cheeky on the big screen.
Opening up about Fifty Shades of Grey, Bowden revealed she'd like to play Anastasia Steele's bombshell BFF, Kate Kavanagh.
"Playing Anastasia would be out of my comfort zone, but I could see myself playing her best friend," Bowden told EnStars.
In the books, Kate and Ana are roommates at Washington State University. Kate is described as outgoing, feminine, fashionable, and makes friends easily. Ana says that Kate is so beautiful that it makes men "tongue-tied."
Whether or not she lands the role, Bowden gushed: "I love the books, so no matter what, I'll be there when the movie opens."
The film adaptation of E.L. James' 50 Shades of Grey was given an official release date: August 1, 2014. Sam Taylor-Johnson will direct the film.
As EnStars previously reported, Dakota Johnson has been cast as Anastasia Steele, and Charlie Hunnam will play Christian Grey.
Johnson is best known for her work on the short-lived Fox sitcom Ben & Kate. She also had memorable supporting roles in The Social Network and The Five-Year Engagement. Hunnam leads the hit FX series Sons of Anarchy.
Despite online backlash following the casting announcement, Hunnam says fans won't be disappointed with the final product.
"As soon as we got in the room and started reading with Dakota, I knew that I definitely wanted to do it, because there was a tangible chemistry between us," Hunnam told The Hollywood Reporter. "It felt kind of exciting and fun and weird and compelling, and so that was it."
