A man who went to hospital for kidney stones comes out discovering that he is a woman. Steve Crecelius, who has been married to Debbie for 20 years, went to the hospital five years ago for kidney stones. Instead of receiving results for a kidney stone ultrasound, the doctors told Steve that he was actually a woman, according to The Denver Post.

Steve was told that he was intersex and had both male and female parts. Despite the revelation, his marriage to Debbie stayed intact. For his wife Debbie, it was always something that she wanted to talk about. "I didn't want to know what her reaction would be. But [the medical discovery] validated everything I felt," Steve said.

A year after the revelation, Steve started to embrace his female side, along with the support of his wife. He told his family members one by one about the news.

Stevie Crecelius told ABC News: "People need to be accepting and understand. I was born this way, and loving each other and supporting each other will always be the main factor in our household."

Steve now lives as Stevie.

Steve's wife Debbie told Fox: "I didn't sign on for this, but who signs on for anything? She's the same person she was as a he on the inside." The couple have six children together. Four are Debbie's from a previous marriage and two are Steve's.
