Big Bird-Mitt Romney Sesame Street Internet Meme: 'He's Trying to Kill Me'
A Sesame Street Big Bird-Mitt Romney Internet meme has been sparked from the first Presidential Debate on Wednesday night as Republican candidate Mitt Romney suggested he would cut funding from PBS.
His remarks proved to be sensitive to some PBS fans, and regular viewers of Sesame Street, who at amazing speeds produced a string of hilarious Internet Memes saying Mitt Romney hates Big Bird.
Romney told Wednesday’s debate moderator Jim Lehrer that if he were president one of the first major cuts he would make would be Obamacare and PBS.
"I'm sorry, Jim, I'm gonna stop the subsidy to PBS…. I like PBS, I love Big Bird -- I actually like, you too -- but I am not going to keep spending money on things [we have] to borrow money from China to pay for," Romney said.
This was not the first time that Romney has suggested he would cut funding to the Public Broadcasting Service. He told Fortune Magazine in August a similar plan. PBS’ CEO has called his comments “extremely disappointing.”
In the first Presidential Debate Mitt Romney was widely commended for his aggression and for articulating a number of his plans for the White House. Although it was not a make or break night for President Obama, various commentators have said he appeared slightly more subdued than expected, and in the coming two debates left he will be expected to come out more aggressively and more energy.
