Mia Love Loses Congressional Bid In Utah To Jim Matheson, Election Results
Mia Love narrowly lost in her race against Rep. Jim Matheson (D) in Utah's 2nd congressional district on Election Day.
Love lost against the incumbent by fewer than 3,000 votes on Tuesday, Nov. 6, according to Fox-13.
Had Love been elected, she would have made history as the first black Republican woman to win the congressional seat.
Matheson's win against the Saratoga Springs Mayor sends a Democrat from one the most Republican districts in the country back to Congress.
Love was the first African American Mormon to become the mayor of Saratoga Springs when she was elected in 2010.
Love has been endorsed by the Romney-Ryan campaign and former presidential candidate John McCain. She is supported by Tea Party groups and was reportedly coached on oration by someone on Romney's team.
When she attended the Republic National Convention in August and delivered what many reports described as an "energizing" speech, and considered one of the best of the evening, Love's Wikipedia page was hacked into and updated with offensive comments on Aug. 28.
An anonymous writer had added a byline to Love's Wikipedia page saying that she is a "dirty, worthless wh**e who sold out her soul in the name of big business."
