On the project's website it is stated that the Foo Fighters haven't played a show in the Romagna region of Italy since 1997 and these 1,000 musicians are hoping to change that.
Fabio Zaffagnini is the creator of the project and recruited a lot of help to make this project come to life. People were recruited to run the sound department, video department and more. Plus, within the last year funds were raised to bring this project to life.

After over a year of planning, the project filmed over the weekend on July 26, where 1,000 musicians performed "Learn to Fly," which is off of the band's third album There Is Nothing Left to Lose.
Since filming, participants have posted photos from the rocking event on its Facebook page.
The video of the 1,000 musicians performing "Learn to Fly" went live today, July 30, which can be viewed below.
Over 200 singers and drummers took part in this project along with over 300 guitarists and over 100 bassists. All musicians included are listed on the website.
This group of dedicated fans now just has to wait to see if Grohl and his bandmates will see their creation and respond to their request.
"You know Italy is a country where dreams cannot easily come true, but it's a land of passion and creativity so what we did in here is just a huge, huge miracle," Zaffagnini said after the musicians wrapped up playing "Learn to Fly" so hopefully their request will be met by the Foo Fighers.
