One Direction Music 2015: Boy Band Drops New Single ‘Drag Me Down’ As ’Bit Of A Surprise’ Overnight [VIDEO]
Earlier this week former One Direction member Zayn Malik surprised many by announcing he inked a solo record deal with RCA Records, but his former bandmates have definitely won in terms of surprising the masses!
How Are The Remaining Members Of One Direction Coping Without Zayn Malik?
Overnight, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Harry Styles dropped their first single as a foursome called "Drag Me Down," which is up from grabs through Spotify and iTunes.
Payne kicked off the surprise, announcing, "Bit of a surprise" before talking about the new tune, which they are super proud of.
"I hope you love it as much as we do," Payne divulged.

By the sounds of it "Drag Me Down" might have been selected a bit ago as their lead single for their next album, but the band was waiting for the right time to drop it. Styles simply shared a link to iTunes for his followers on Twitter to go purchase the new 1D tune.

The oldest 1D member was grateful and happy. He began his mini tweet spree with a smiley face and then thanked fans for continuing to support them since it is "constant."

So the song is three minutes and 12 seconds of excellence. It's a great pop track and the band has definitely figured out how to move on without Malik around to hit high notes.
Billboard reported that long-time 1D collaborators Jamie Scott, John Ryan and Julian Bunetta wrote "Drag Me Down" with Ryan and Bunetta producing it.
