'Fast and Furious 8' Spoilers: 'Furious 7' Sequel To Kickstart A New Trilogy? [VIDEO]
While we know that development for Fast and Furious 8 is underway, there has also been plenty speculation about the future of the series as a whole.
Vin Diesel Hints At Kurt Russell's Return For Fast and Furious 8?
Earlier this year there had been talk about the eighth installment being followed up by two more movies, and the Furious 7 sequel essentially being part of a new narrative in the speed thriller series. A new report by Movie News Guide pretty much states this speculation as fact. We know better, and will take it with a pinch of salt. But this possibility is definitely exciting to us and could really fire up the series.
With Paul Walker's death, Furious 7 seems to also have been closing a chapter of the series, and it would be interesting to start afresh with a new take.
Could A New Director Take On Fast and Furious 8?
Last year, Deadline revealed a much bigger finale plan for the series. The publication exclusively learned that Fast and Furious 8 will be drawing the curtains on the speed thriller. Additionally, the publication also reported that director Justin Lin, who helmed the Fast movies before Furious 7 -- which has been directed by James Wan -- might be returning for the final bow. The plan for the finale is pretty unique and ambitious, as it is set to be a "multi-part production" and there will multiple movies filmed together for the big 8.
In other rumours that are swirling about the movie, Fast and Furious 8 will reportedly be set in New York City and Vin Diesel, who is an actor and producer on the films has strongly hinted this fact.
Furious 7 hit theaters on April 3, 2015.
