America's Next Top Model Cycle 22 premiered Wednesday night on The CW.
What Does 'America's Next Top Model' Cycle 22 Contestant Mikey Think About Photo Shoots On The Show?
The competition has already been slimmed down significantly and will continue to be cut until one model remains. As usual drama ensued as did displeasure from the contestants who did not make it into the next round of casting, but that is what happens cycle after cycle on Top Model. Not everyone can walk away a winner.
With this cycle being the 22nd, Tyra Banks, the creator, host and one of the judges, feels as though the contestants should have certain skills heading into the competition.

Banks revealed in an interview for Cycle 22, which can be seen below, that when America's Next Top Model first began the hopefuls "just had to kind of be raw, rough, and have this potential that we crafted and sculpted."
Banks and the fellow judges, guest judges, creative directors and photographers over the years have helped the hopefuls transform from ordinary to extraordinary. Banks is known for teaching her contestants how to "smize" (smiling with your eyes), but with Cycle 22 that is not the case anymore.
Banks expects the contestants to know how to execute "smizing" perfectly.
"It's Cycle 22 now, you better know how to 'smize,'" Banks declared.
America's Next Top Model Cycle 22 airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
