In a recent interview presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton revealed that The Good Wife was one of her favorite television shows.

The former secretary of state's endorsement is definitely the most significant the CBS legal drama has gotten so far. We wonder if this might influence the showrunners' decision to throw in some more political storylines in season 7. Infact there is great potential to mine another political plot, as Peter Florrick (Chris Noth) announced his wish to run for president in the finale of season 6. Although Alicia (Julianna Margulies) had expressed her disapproval to Peter but it seems like he will override her wishes in season 7.

The show is getting a new campaign manager and there is only one main character on the show that would seek such assistance. Recently, Deadline reported that Margo Martindale, who is known for her work on Justified and The Americans, will have a recurring role as a "campaign operative responsible for past successes by underdog presidential candidates in Iowa who hides her intelligence and cunning under a fake, folksy charm."

Alicia's Daughter Won't Be Returning For Season 7?

In the finale of season 6 Peter's wish to run for presidency was met with disagreement by Alicia. Initially Peter had sought the consent of the family as they would need to go through the whole ordeal of campaigning with him, putting up a face of unity. This storyline was left off with Alicia stating that she didn't want Peter to run for president, leaving us with the question if Peter will disregard Alicia's concern.

The next chapter of the legal drama is set to premiere on CBS on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 9 p.m.

The season 6 finale, entitled 'Wanna Partner?' aired on CBS on May 10.
