'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Casting: Chace Crawford Says "I Want To Do Something Really Shocking"
The rumor mill continues to churn ever so rapidly as to who will end up with the role of the S&M-crazed CEO Christian Grey in the film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey." Chace Crawford, who recently ended his run on the hit series "Gossip Girl," is one of the numerous names that has been mentioned by fans as a good fit to don the racy billionaire role.
At 27-years-old, Crawford is the same age as the Christian Grey character. While he's hardly being considered as strongly as some of the other candidates, Cosmopolitan magazine did feature him as one of their "9 Guys Who Should Play Christian Grey." The actor also made the ranks in IMDB's "My Christian Grey Nominees" list.
Crawford, who played Nate Archibald in "Gossip Girl," is described by the series as "the perfect 'Golden Boy' of the Upper East Side, always being fought over by the prominent female characters."
With his 6 foot stature, toned physique and blue eyes, the actor possesses some of the key attributes that are required for the highly coveted role.
Crawford's character on the show has a lot in common with Grey. Both are extremely wealthy, good-looking and have delved into relationships with older woman. However, make no mistake about it, Crawford would clearly be doing something unique, as the Grey character would come with a sex dungeon full of bondage gear.
Following a role in the summer flick "What to Expect When You're Expecting" along with modeling gig for Mr. Porter, Crawford is hoping to take on grittier movie parts. When he was asked by the Daily Mail on what he sees himself doing over the next couple of years he gave the following response:
"Working. I just want to be working. I want to do something really shocking. I know I'm capable of it. The right thing just has to come up," he said.
