Depending on your point of view, this rumor might be totally unbelievable or the best idea yet. There's a new report that suggests NBC is looking to replace Donald Trump on The Celebrity Apprentice with George Clooney's wife, international human rights lawyer Amal Clooney.

According to Britain's Express on Sunday, Trump was fired after remarks he made about illegal Mexican immigrants coming to the United States last month. Now, NBC producers are looking for Trump's replacement and they think that Amal would be their best bet.

A source told the site, "As well as the cachet of being married to George, she is also a highly respected figure in her field and, since she rarely says anything in public, there is still something of an air of mystery to her. Basically we want Amal, although there are a couple of other prominent women in contention."

NBC execs think Amal is their best option, as she spends most of her time in New York City, where the competition reality show is filmed, and given her immense popularity, the network would be able to cash in on high ratings as well. The Celebrity Apprentice averaged about 7 million viewers per episode when Trump hosted the show.

The insider added, "We think she could be a perfect fit, if her schedule can be made to dovetail with shooting requirements."

If Amal doesn't agree to joining the show, insiders say that NBC is also considering Facebook CEO Sheryl Sandberg or Hollywood actress and Honest Company CEO Jessica Alba.

So far, Amal has not made any comments about joining the show.
