He will be ecstatic to learn that Abigail (Kate Mansi) is accepting his proposal on Days of Our Lives, but Ben's (Robert Scott Wilson) joy could quickly turn to a new emotion after he learns the secret she's been keeping.

Clyde Encourages Ben To Focus On Abigail

After getting back the results of the DNA test on the baby she's carrying, Abigail officially told Chad (Billy Flynn) things were over between them for good, and told Ben she was accepting his proposal-something that Ben will gloat over when a heartbroken and drunk Chad happens upon the happy pair. However, his gloating will soon end when Abigail admits to him for the first time that she is pregnant-and that the baby is his.

At first, Ben will be ecstatic because he's not only getting the girl of his dreams for the rest of his life, but he's also getting to start a family with her-until he remembers that he knows she slept with Chad one night in the DiMera rose garden. Now, as he starts doing the math, he will begin to wonder if the baby is really his, and his joy over the news could quickly be replaced with suspicion and doubt about how strong his relationship actually is.

Abigail Finally Learns Who Fathered Her Baby

However, what neither Ben nor Abigail knows is that Ben's father, Clyde (James Read) figured out Abigail was pregnant a while ago, and knew she was scheduling a DNA test to determine if the baby was Chad's or Ben's. Knowing that she is about to inherit a lot of land in Ireland which will make her very wealthy, Clyde blackmailed the lab head at the hospital to fix the test's results in Ben's favor. So even though Ben may have reason to wonder, he will at least be temporarily assured that he's genuinely going to be a father.
