The report hints that the main storyline will be propped up on espionage. It also takes into consideration Kurt Russell's, who played Mr. Nobody in Furious 7, return for the sequel, when inferring that the movie will go down this road. What would be way more interesting and refreshing to see would be if political espionage were to find its way to Dominic (Vin Diesel) and crew.
As the movie is allegedly moving away from California, and to New York, closer to the political centers of intrigue, there could be more scope for an engaging storyline related to some villainous force protected by the state.
