Lindsay Lohan Tries To Pay Taxes By Selling Old Clothes
Lindsay Lohan is becoming increasingly desperate to figure out a solution to her mounting tax debt.
The IRS has seized all of her bank accounts in an effort to collect the $234,000 she owes in back taxes from the years 2009, 2010 and 2011. Though TMZ has reported that her pal Charlie Sheen gave her $100,000 to put toward the debt, Lohan still has no idea how she will pay off the remaining balance.
The actress, 26, is totally clueless about how she can get herself out of the hole, according to a report from The Huffington Post.
"Her finances are in a mess," a source said. "She lives very large, staying at the best hotels and traveling first class. All the money she earns she spends, and then when it comes to taxes, she has nothing left. Right now, she is desperate to find a paying gig to just get this burden off her back."
So Lohan made a new attempt to get some quick cash this week - by selling off her old designer clothes, shoes and accessories.
A report from Radar Online says Lohan sent her younger sister Ali Lohan to the Los Angeles used clothing store Wasteland with a collection of designer duds in the hope that the store would pay a pretty penny for them.
"An eyewitness tells RadarOnline.com that Ali, proudly showcasing what appeared to be a significantly larger bustline in a fitted top, turned up to the store with bags stuffed full of items. She then marched up to the counter, hoping to strike a good deal, but was crestfallen when the store manager sorted through the cast offs and offered her a mere fraction of what she was anticipating," the report said.
The manger told Ali he would pay miniscule prices for items that Lohan had bought for several hundred or even thousands of dollars.
"Thirty dollars for these? They cost $700! This is ridiculous!" Ali was overheard yelling in the store.
The younger Lohan tried upping the price by claiming the clothes were more valuable because Lindsay had been photographed wearing them on red carpets and in photo shoots, but the manager was having none of it, and Ali left the store with hardly any cash gained.
