Julian Lennon Photo Exhibit Opened in Miami for Charity
Julian Lennon's new photo exhibit opened in Miami.
A collection of pictures by the 49-year-old artist and son of Beatles singer John Lennon were put on display at the 11th annual Art Basel Miami Beach that took place this weekend
Lennon's collection called "Alone" depicts several images of melancholy landscape scenes priced between $3,000 and $5,500. A percentage of the proceeds of the sold photographs will go to Lennon's charity, the White Feather Foundation.
"I've been a philanthropist for all my life," Lennon told AFP. "I've had many involvements in humanitarian and environmental issues. Whatever work I do, I've always put at least 10 percent aside [for] my foundation."
Lennon's exhibit was a part of over 260 gallerias from artists around the world who got to display their work.
"What we're trying to do here, and that's why I'm so happy to be part of this, is we're trying to make everybody else see that. Because there is a lot of money, obviously, and the idea is to put it back in schools," added Lennon.
According to the Inquisitr, Lennon describes his photographs as a means for self-reflection and taking a time out.
"It's basically about having that moment in time where you can reflect, you can think about life, think of the past and present and future," Lennon said of his work. "It's that moment in time when you have a bit of peace."
Lennon is the oldest son of the former Beatles singer and first wife Cynthia Powell. The legendary singer used his firstborn child as his inspiration for some of the biggest hits of the Beatles such as "Hey Jude" and "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds."
He shares his father with half-brother Sean Lennon whose mother is Lennon's second wife, Yoko Ono.
