While it's not the only piece of footage to be revealed on the "Downton Abbey" Christmas special, a short trailer did show some notable events occurring in the Crawley household, including a romantic encounter between two characters.

Following the death of his wife Lady Sybil, Branson appears to be more upbeat thanks to a new maid that's played by MyAnna Burling. The increasingly political driver is later seen partaking in romantic relations with Downton's newest servant.

Rose, who is the racy niece of the dowager countess, had initially been sent away to Scotland at the end of season three. However, she does make a return looking more stunning than ever.

It appears that Lady Cora has forgiven Earl Grantham for disregarding the doctor's warnings over Sybil's eclampsia - which could've saved her life - since the two can be seen kissing each other.

Also revealed in the British-American drama's trailer are servants learning how to dance along with Matthew Crawley and Lady Mary trying to have a baby. Mr. and Mrs. Bates get very friendly with each other at a picnic as well.

The ITV network previously posted pictures of the "Downton" special and warned fans that the holiday showing may be a tearjerker. Laura Mackie, ITV's director of drama, spoke to So Feminine about the highly anticipated Christmas spectacular.

"This is one episode you will want to see live with millions of others - and best have the tissues ready," she said.

The "Downton Abbey" Christmas special will air in the United Kingdom on Christmas Day at 8:45 p.m. on the ITV network. The cast filmed scenes for the special back in August.

Production for the season four of "Downton Abbey" will start in February 2013 at Highclere Castle. The next installment is said to include eight episodes.
