'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Casting: Matt Bomer Out Of Grey Running?
Anticipation over who the role of Christian Grey will be given to in the film adaptation of E.L. James' "Fifty Shades of Grey" continues to heat up the internet. Many fans have suggested a slew of Hollywood's best for the part as they continuously dream up just how they'd prefer the casting process for the male lead to ultimately unfold.
One of the notable names that's consistently brought up on the regular is "White Collar's" Matt Bomer. owever, to the dismay of his followers, many naysayers have come forward on the web to dispute him for the S&M-crazed billionaire role.
One such Twitter user recently took to the social networking site to voice her opinion on the matter. She gave the television actor a thumbs down because he "is honestly, for me, too old. He's 35 and will be 40 by the 3rd movie. I'm just here to share my casting ideas and dicuss them, if you'd like," said the fan.
To top it off, celebrities have also chimed in on the matter. Screenwriter Bret Eastern Ellis, who is well known for works such as "American Psycho," also refused to give Bomer his approval for the highly-demanded role back in August.
"Okay I'll say it. Matt Bomer isn't right for Christian Grey because he is openly gay. He's great for other roles but this is too big a game," Ellis tweeted.
Other potential candidates that have come up for the Grey character include "Gangster Squad's" Ryan Gosling, "Vampire Diaries'" Ian Somerhalder and "Gossip Girl's" Chace Crawford, amongst many other actors.
The "Fifty Shades of Grey" story revolves around a recent college graduate named Anastasia Steele who gets herself caught up in a dominant and submissive sexual relationship with the rich and kinky Grey. Through an "agreement," they both explore the world of bondage and masochism.
Up until now, James and the producers attached to the film have remained relatively discreet on their casting approach. Focus Features and Universal Pictures purchased the rights to the "Fifty Shades."
