Very tragic news is shaking the nation this morning as a Virginia reporter and photographer were both shot and killed while doing a story on live television.

In what has been described as a journalist’s wort nightmare, reporter Alison Parker and photographer Adam Ward, were killed on TV near Moneta at Bridgewater Plaza.

According to CNN just minutes ago, they were doing a story that surrounded a local business in Franklin County, Va on WDBJ. Parker was speaking with a woman when gun shots can be heard. They both scream and the camera hits the ground before showing a man who points a gun at the cameraman. The station then immediately went back to the studio where anchor Kimberly mcBroom took over. It all happened around 6:45 this morning.

In the latest news, authorities are on a manhunt for the gunman, who has not been identified yet. Local schools in the area are on lockdown right now.

Parker was only 24 and Ward was 27.

Authorities are convinced that the man holding the gun shot at least six times.

WDBJ’s General Manager Jeff Marks said, “We do not know the motive. We do not know who the killer is.We do know the Franklin County sheriff…they are working very diligently to track down both the motive and the person responsible for this terrible crime against two fine journalists. Our hearts are broken.”

He added that the men and women who worked with the victims are doing their best to “hold back tears.”
