Kim Kardashian was criticized after she stepped out in Miami wearing a leather skirt so tight at the waist that it created a stomach bulge also known as a "muffin top."

The reality star and her older sister Kourtney both wore peplum skirts while filming a shopping trip for their reality show "Kourtney and Kim Take Miami" on Wednesday, Dec. 12. The sisters co-own several retail DASH boutiques as well as the Kardashian Kollection fashion brand, so it was no surprise that they would plan to wear one of the season's hottest trends at the same time. But the plan turned out to be a reported fashion fail for the younger Kardashian sister.

Kourtney, 33, colorblocked her outfit with a structured coral top that had 1980's inspired shoulder pads, and an olive peplum skirt with a wide black belt to cinch her waist.

Kim, however, in the process of trying to make the skirt as sexy as possible, wore a black crop top that was too short, thus revealing a stomach bulge that spilled out of her leather peplum skirt. The Daily Mail suggested Kim may have "left her house in a hurry without checking out her look from all angles."

Another fashion critic said while the skirt had the "potential to be fierce, instead [Kim] wound up looking frumpy."

The stomach bulge may be a result of a 20 pound weight gain Kim acquired since she began dating rapper Kanye West in April. A source close to the reality star reportedly told Heat magazine Kim has become less disciplined with her exercise routine and packed on the pounds as a result of her relationship with West.

"Instead of hitting the gym at 6 am, she's finding herself staying in bed with Kanye and really letting her guard down," the source said. "She's normally ruthless when it comes to diet and exercise, but since she met Kanye her discipline has gone out the window."
