It's finally here, the Video Music Awards, the pop culture event that everyone will be talking about...for probably the next week (unless something REALLY big happens). And this year MTV seems intent on courting buzz by handing over hosting duties to none other than Miley Cyrus (who was part one of those REALY big VMA moments back in 2013 & is thus the reason your mom knows what "twerking" is) and supposedly giving her free reign.

There will also be musical performances from some serious big names in pop at the moments, including Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber (who will probably be performing his new song "What Do You Mean?"), The Weekend, Pharrel, Demi Lovato, Tori Kelly, A$AP Rocky with Twenty One Pilots, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Bruno Mars. There will also be a lot of famous faces in the crowd and some happenings that everyone's looking forward to, mainly Taylor Swift debuting her new music video for "Wildest Dreams" and Kanye West accepting the Video Vanguard Award (the VMA equivalent of a lifetime achievement award). Award categories range from Best Lyrics Video and Best Hip Hop Video to Video of the Year. Click here to check out a full list of this year's nominees.

The show airs tonight at 9 p.m. EST/ 7 p.m. CST on MTV with the red carpet preshow starting at an hour beforehand. But fans who can't be bothered to tune in on their TVs can still find out where to watch a free live stream below.
