Craven died from brain cancer. He was 76.
Scream became one of the most popular scary movies to exist that it turned into a TV series on MTV. Executive producer of the series Jill Blotevogel told TV Line how everyone involved with the show is saddened over the filmmaker's death.
"Everyone on the show is kind of stunned," he said. "We were sucker-punched, and I know the world feels the same way because he didn't make his health issues public. I'm still a little sad."
