'The Voice' Touching Tribute To Sandy Hook Newtown Victims; Top 3 Finals Recap (WATCH VIDEO)
It's the final week of Season 3 of "The Voice" and Monday's show opened with a touching tribute to the victims of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in New town, Conn.
All four coaches of "The Voice"- Adam Levine, Blake Shelton Christina Aguilera and Cee-Lo Green- together with host Carson Daly, social media correspondent Christina Milian and season 3 contestants sang "Hallelujah" while holding a sign with a victim's name and age on it.
It was reminiscent of another tribute to the victims performed on "Saturday Night Live" on Dec. 15. The New York Children's Choir had performed "Silent Night" and the screen went dark for a brief moment of silence in honor of the victims. The regularly scheduled program commenced when the choir yelled the traditional decades-old opener, "And now it's Saturday Night Live!"
The "Voice" Top 3 Finals began last night when the final three contestants - Cassadee Pope, Terry McDermott and Nicholas David - sang their very best to win the final prize of $100,000 and a record deal with Universal Records.
The show kicked off with Cee-Lo Green's act Nicholas David. David performed "Great Balls of Fire" and later, "Fire" with real fire ignited on stage for his performance. "Your fire burned this house down," said his mentor Green.
Blake Shelton's contestant Cassadee Pope sang "Over You" for the second time this season.
"The Voice" then played clips of Shelton's act Terry McDermott paying him a visit at home prior to the live show. McDermott and Shelton then performed "Dude Looks like a Lady" live with someone they announced would be a "special guest" on guitar. That special guest turned out to be a wig-wearing, topless Adam Levine.
Later, McDermott sang the 80s hit "I Want to Know What Love Is" for the second time this season. Shelton praised his contestant when he told him that he sang the single even better the second time around.
David teamed with his mentor Green onstage to perform a duet on "Play That Funky Music," a style of music which Green is known for.
Pope also performed with her coach, Shelton, to sing "Steve McQueen." She closed the show with her second and last song, "Cry." "I've never heard you sing as good as you've seen tonight, and that's saying a lot," Shelton told his act about her final performance.
The Season 3 winner of "The Voice" finale will air tonight at 8/7c on NBC.
