Recent reports have been strongly hinting at Unicron playing the big baddie in Transformers 5.

IGN seriously considered Unicron finally being brought in as a villan in the Age of Extinction sequel.

In a recent segment of IGN's Keepin' It Reel, Jim Vejvoda and Chris Carie engaged this prospect. Vejvoda said that Unicron was "a villain who they have been holding back on using." He went on to add that it was a tough one to pull off because Unicron is "a giant planet" like Galctus and once you go there, there is no coming back. Carie added that the scale of Unicron might be an issue.

In other Transformers 5 related news, in a recent interview voice actor Mark Ryan hinted at the fact that Transformers 5 will feature two different storylines.

Reports sourced Ryan's interview with Dark Horizons at the Wings and Wheels convention in the UK in which he dished about the sequel of Age of Extinction.

According to an IGN piece, the first storyline will focus on Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) on mortal lands. And as we had previously suspected the second storyline will follow Optimus Prime's journey in search for his creators, the Quintessons.

Ryan, also revealed that filming for the fifth installment is set to begin next year at the event.

Movie News Guide caught up with the actor at the annual 'Wings and Wheels' convention in UK. So seems like it's going to be a lot more of a wait. Mark Wahlberg had previously suggested that he hoped filming would begin soon.

The writing team of Transformers 5 had been hard at work to get everything ready so that Bay can hit the ground running after he finishes his other project, Benghazi.

Transformers: Age of Extinction hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
