Danny and Baez are about to embark on a car chase mission when Blue Bloods returns.

'Blue Bloods' Star Reveals 'Biggest Challenge' Of Being On The Series

On Thursday, Yahoo! TV announced that a man named Owen Cairo (played by Anthony Edwards) will be introduced when his 1968 Mustang goes missing. Allegedly driven by Steve McQueen in the movie Bullitt, the vehicle is suspected to disappear because of Owen's wife who may have arranged for this to happen. So the detectives are on the mission to find the car and discover why it's gone.

"We offered [the role] to Anthony, our first choice, because he's a terrific actor with an innate talent for drawing empathy and relatability from the audience," executive producer Kevin Wade said. "We are thrilled that he's joining us for this story."

'Blue Bloods' Actor Shows How Excited He Is To Be Back For The Sixth Season

Some of Edwards' previous credits include ER, Zodiac and Top Gun.

His guest starring episode is expected to air this November.

There will be some other stories coming to the sixth season, which sometimes comes with a challenge, according to actress Bridget Moynahan (Erin). She previously told Phil Star that everyone works hard to keep everything new and fresh.

"Being on an ensemble, every script is so different so sometimes my character might work a little bit and then, sometimes, it might work a lot," Moynahan said. "So it goes to this ebb and flow of the material. And when you get the opportunity to have a juicier storyline on a certain episode, you just really dive into it and really try to make the most of it."

Blue Bloods Season 6 premieres on Friday, September 25 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
