'Awkward' Season 5 Spoilers: Matty & Jake Continue Dealing With Their Friendship Fallout [VIDEO]
Things continue getting more tense at Palos Hills High as Matty McKibben (Beau Mirschoff) and Jake Rosati (Brett Davern) keep feuding on Awkward.
Matty Struggles With Newfound Unpopularity
The two former best buds had an epic fallout after Matty's blowup at the beach-which wasn't long after he found out that Jake had slept with Gabby (Erinn Westbrook) before she and Matty had broken up. Since then, Jake and Gabby have been dating and Matty has become a social pariah at school.
Now in a sneak peek clip for the Monday, Sept. 21 episode, it appears the two former bros are up for a major honor when it comes to senior superlatives-the two happen across a banner advocating them for best bromance. However, the moment doesn't seem to inspire a makeup between the two.
Jenna Experiences A Surge In Popularity
After ripping the banner down, the two look at each other with disgust before once again trading insults.
"Who did that?" Jake asks in the clip.
"I don't know, Maybe you should ask one of Gabby's friends. Aren't they your bodyguards now?" Matty sneers.
However, before Jake can get another word-or punch in-Kyle (Wesam Keesh) jumps in front of him, defending his new friend,
"This guy bothering you Matty?" he asks.
"Looks like you're the one with the bodyguard McKibben, not me," Jake retorts before walking away.
Kyle then turns to Matty and proceeds to make the situation a little bit more awkward after he refers to the former friendship as a relationship.
"I'm sorry bro, I know run-ins with youe ex can be awkward," Kyle says.
"Me and Jenna? [Ashley Rickards] No, we're cool," Matty replies.
"I was talking about Jake," Kyle says.
Awkward airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on MTV.
