Wednesday marked the official first day of autumn and our Enstars Readers' Choice Song of Summer 2015 Tournament has officially concluded as of midnight, which means we have a clear winner.
The pop/punk rockers from Australia, better known as 5 Seconds of Summer, managed to just squeeze by British heartthrob Nathan Sykes' flirty tune in the final round of our tournament with their revolutionary jam.
It was a close race the entire time with a few lead changes even, but the Aussies prevailed. Their smashing lead single, "She's Kinda Hot," from their forthcoming sophomore studio album, Sounds Good Feels Good, reigns as our tournament's Song of Summer 2015!
So many extremely catchy songs were included in our tournament and 5 Seconds of Summer came out on top as they knocked out Maroon 5's edgy "This Summer's Gonna Hurt Like a MotherF----r" in Round 1 so effortlessly. Then they powered ahead of the enticing "Classic Man" from Jidenna and RomanGian Arthur in the second round. Bea Miller's pop/rock anthem "Fire N Gold" was shutout in the third round with ease by the Aussies. They followed that up by knocking out Rachel Platten's encouraging "Fight Song" in Round 4. Finally, they maintained excellence in the fifth and final round as they battled against Sykes' flirtatious hit "Kiss Me Quick".
Plus, they totally bypassed so many other mega-successful summer songs, including Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" collaboration with Kendrick Lamar that actually never made it beyond Round 1.
Congratulations 5 Seconds of Summer and their incredibly dedicated fandom! Now go listen to "She's Kinda Hot" to celebrate the victory!
