Ricky Gervais' Jokes at the 2012 Golden Globes
Many critics are saying that British comedian Ricky Gervais was "too tame" at the Golden Globes 2012 which he hosted last night in Los Angeles.
The comedian who last year made headlines for a provocative joke about atheism, was milder this year, many say, but still there were a few F-bomb, took aim at Kim Kardashian and Justin Bieber and joked about the shows' organizers.
"So where was I? Nervous? Don't be. This isn't about you," he said. "Tonight, you get Britain's biggest comedian hosting the world's second biggest award show on America's third biggest network. Oh, sorry, fourth. It's fourth."
"The Golden Globes are just like the Oscars but without all that esteem," adding that the show is Kim Kardashian to the Oscars' Kate Middleton — "a bit louder, a bit trashier, a bit drunker and more easily bought. Allegedly. Nothing’s been proved."
“The Hollywood Foreign Press have warned me if I insult any of you they’ll … definitely invite me back next year," he said.
While introducing Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek, both of hispanic heritage, Gervais said "i can't understand a f--king word they are saying."
At the show Madonna had her chance to shoot back at Gervais.
When Gervais introduced Madonna and coughed ironically about her as a virgin -referring to one of her songs- the pop queen replied.
"If I’m just like a virgin, Ricky, then why don’t you come over and do something about it. I haven’t kissed a girl in a few years — on TV.”
