The episode is called "Double Trouble" and according to its press release, Director Vance (Rocky Carroll) will rely on Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and the rest of the NCIS team since he will be on field duty with them since a murder case will be connected to a former NCIS agent he locked up for stealing evidence.

In the preview video, which is below, the former agent is gunning for Vance and even goes as far to set Vance up.
A snippet of a scene between Gibbs and Vance is shown, in which Gibbs tells Vance, "9-1-1 tape says you attacked him."
"He's framing me," Vance insists, which is what leads to him joining Gibbs and the rest of the team on the field.
Vance is seen telling Gibbs in Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard's (David McCallum) morgue, "I would like to ride with you as a member of your team."
Vance is later seen asking Gibbs, "Okay, who's going in first?" while in the field, which earns him quite the look from Gibbs that prompts him to answer his own question with "You, of course."
NCIS airs on Tuesdays on CBS at 8 p.m. ET.
