Donald Trump loves to make controversial comments, so it shouldn't surprise anyone that the presidential hopeful revealed that he feels "best" whenever he is armed with a firearm.

According to the Daily Mail on Sunday, Trump made the comments during an interview with CBS host John Dickerson. He admitted to sometimes carrying a firearm and that he got his license to do so just a few years back.

Suggesting that teachers should be armed, the Republican candidate said, "I like to have myself protected," before adding that it's America's choice on whether or not citizens should be armed to protect themselves.

"Well, that's up to them. But I will tell you, I feel much better being armed."

He also opened up about his thoughts on the recent mass shooting at Umpqua Community College in Oregon, suggesting that teachers should indeed be armed and that the country needs to focus more on mental health issues than restricting gun laws.

He said, "Had somebody in the room had a gun, the result would have been better. I think that if you had the teacher - assuming they knew how to use the weapon, which hopefully they would - you would have been a lot better when this maniac walked into class starting to shoot people."

Trump added, "This isn't guns. This is about, really, mental illness. And I feel very strongly about it. Even if you had great education having to deal with mental illness - you educate the community - you're going to have people that slip through the cracks."
