A new report sources an interview with Beau Willimon's, in which the showrunner dished about how much of the plot might be inspired be the presidential elections.

Doug Stamper To Finally Be Killed Off In Season 4?

This has been a question on many people's minds and various developments and rumors have led fans to believe that there will be some parallels drawn betwen real life and fiction, perhaps even some characters inspired from the candidates running to win the next presidential cycle. Willimon reveales that while there might be similarities they are obviously avoiding portraying real life politics as the timelines of writing for the show wouldn't sync up with the actual elections.

"We're reading the same headlines that you are reading," he said. "But we're not trying to deliberately parralel what's going on in real life. It would be a fool's errand to try because we're writing the season many months before it airs. So if we did that, it would feel really old."

New Characters To Threaten Frank In Season 4?

Previously there had also been rumors of the release date of season 4 being pushed back so it aligns with the presidential elections. Realty Today sourced a Netflixlife.com report which suggested that while the next chapter will be out in 2016, there is no confirmation about the date. The report goes onto hint that we can't simply make an educated guess by analyzing the pattern of the release dates of the past three seasons, all of which were out in February with a difference of 14 to 15 days.

In an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Kevin Spacey joked that Frank Underwood actually spoke to Donald Trump when breaking the fourth wall on House of Cards.

Colbert asked him who Frank was talking to, if it "was a close confidant because the people you are actually talking to are people on a ten hour netflix binge."

Spacey was ready with his funny response.

"This is the truth from the very beginning, when I am looking directly into that camera I am talking to onw person and one person only and that is Donald Trump," Spacey said. "Now it all starts to make sense."
